Sylve is an infrastructure management platform for FreeBSD. It brings Bhyve virtual machines, FreeBSD Jails, ZFS storage, networking, firewalling, backups, and clustered operations into one web interface, as a FreeBSD-native alternative to managing each subsystem by hand. The backend is written in Go, the frontend in SvelteKit, and ZFS operations run through gzfs.
It covers the day-to-day work of running a host: provisioning and migrating VMs and Jails, creating and replicating datasets, serving storage over Samba and iSCSI, and managing switches, VLANs, DHCP, PF, and WireGuard. Hosts can be joined into a cluster for guest migration and failover.
Sylve is one of Alchemilla Ventures’ free and open-source software (FOSS) initiatives, and it is sponsored by the FreeBSD Foundation.
